Debora Ann Dupuis, age 64, was born in Breaux Bridge, Louisiana on December 14, 1961 and passed away peacefully at her home on January 18, 2026. She was the third of eight daughters of Nathan and Louella Dupuis. She was a deeply cherished wife, daughter, sister, aunt, godmother and friend to all who had the opportunity to be around her. Her family and friends meant everything to her. She was extremely giving and generous with her time.
Growing up in the outskirts of Breaux Bridge, she loved being outside. She loved fishing and crawfishing with her daddy. She was the only daughter allowed to drive the tractor in the garden. She played sports with the neighbors. Her favorite sport was softball. She was the short stop for the Breaux Bridge High School softball team.
As an adult, her passion for being outside never changed. She loved grilling, cooking outside, cutting grass, camping, and taking care of her yard. When she had time, she would help her sisters with their grass duties. She also loved traveling and going to the casino. Debora’s happy place was going to the beach and eating potato chips. There was not a chip out there that she did not like.
She worked a variety of jobs including Kmart, Charity Hospital, University Medical Center, and Ochsner University Hospital and Clinics (OUHC). At OUHC she was a phenomenal respiratory therapist who cared for her patients and their outcome. Her all-time favorite job that she loved talking about was Pizza Palace in Breaux Bridge. She loved making pizza. Her dream job was to retire and work at Buc-ees.
Debora is survived by her beloved wife, Leah Ryder, of 32 years. She held dear the bonds she shared with her 7 sisters, Julie (Kirk) Grivat, Louise (Carlin) LeBlanc, Celena Dupuis Tilbury, Ash (Gary) Gassiott, Jane (Mitchell) Labbie, Laura (Todd) Landry, and Lisa (Brandon) Varisco.
In addition to her immediate family, Debora's presence enriched the lives of her extended family, including her father-in-law and mother-in-law, Larry and Georgina Ryder, brother-in-law, Brad (Kaitlin) Ryder, and sisters-in-law, Elizabeth "Boogie" Ryder, and Toni (Chris) Naquin. Debora took immense joy in her role as an aunt, leaving a lasting impact on her 27 nieces and nephews and 16 great nieces and nephews.
She also leaves behind her beloved fur babies Pierre and Pearl, who brought joy and companionship into her life.
Debora was preceded in death by her parents, Nathan and Louella Dupuis, whose love and guidance shaped her into the remarkable person she became. She is also reunited in spirit with her maternal grandparents, Clovis and Celina Trosclair, and her paternal grandparents, Paul Patrick and Heloise Laura Beatrice Shauffe Dupuis.
The legacy of Debora Ann Dupuis will carry on in the hearts of those she loved dearly. Her compassionate nature, unwavering support, and zest for life have left an indelible mark on her family and friends, ensuring that she will never be forgotten.
