Opelousas– A funeral service will be held for Cody Michael Opry on Monday, September 26, 2022, at 10:00 a.m. in the First Baptist Church of Opelousas. Pastor Kevin West will officiate the service. Interment will take place in the Palmetto Methodist Cemetery in Palmetto.
It is with heavy and sad hearts that we announce the passing of, Cody, age 21, he entered into eternal rest on Sunday, September 18, 2022.
Cody was a wonderful son, father, sibling, husband, uncle. Cody loved the outdoors fishing and hunting. Cody was serving in the United States Army as ranked a sergeant. Throughout his 4 years and 3 months of service he was awarded the Army Commendation Medal (Posthumously Awarded), Army Achievement Medal, Army Good Conduct Medal, National Defense Service Medal, Afghanistan Campaign Medal w/Bronze Service Star, Global War on Terrorism Expeditionary Medal, Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, Humanitarian Service Medal, Noncommissioned Officers Professional Development Ribbon, Army Service Ribbon, Overseas Service Ribbon, NATO Medal, (Right Side Award) Meritorious Unit Commendation (Army), Combat Infantryman Badge, Combat and Special Skill Badge Basic, Marksmanship Qual Badge, Expert Bar, Weapon: Carbine (Inscription: Carbine). Cody also loved debating on any subject that came up in conversation.
Cody is survived by his wife, Christi Opry of Anacoco, La., his parents, Michael and Christal Opry of Opelousas, daughter, Dalilah Jane and Peach Rose both of Anacoco, brother, Zak Opry and wife Megan of Laporte, Texas, sister, Nikki Marcotte and husband, Bryant of Sunset, nephew, Charlie Opry, maternal grandparents, Jimmy and Carol Grayson Palmetto, paternal grandparents, Derald Opry of Palmetto, and his wife Joy Lynn.
Cody is preceded in death by his paternal grandmother, Gloria Vidrine.
Visitation will be held on Sunday, September 25, 2022, from 11:00 a.m. until 10:00 p.m. in the Sibille Funeral Home. The visitation will reopen on Monday, September 26, 2022, at 8:00 a.m. until time of service.
