Christopher Dietlein Boagni

January 26, 1939 — April 12, 2026

Christopher Dietlein Boagni “Dago, Pap”

Christopher Dietlein Boagni, known affectionately as Dago, and Pap, passed away peacefully at his home on the morning of April 12, 2026, with his wife by his side.

He was born on January 26, 1939, in Opelousas, Louisiana. He was a 1957 graduate of OHS and graduated with a degree of Agriculture in 1962 at SLI.

Chris was a quiet man of strength and humility—a legend to the many who knew him.

A devoted husband and father, Chris shared 66 years of marriage with his beloved wife, Carol Sue Karr Boagni. Together they raised four children: Christopher “Bo” Boagni Jr., Scott Boagni, Holly Boagni Cange, and Brett Boagni.

Chris’s quiet presence commanded respect, and his work ethic was second to none. For him, there was no such thing as a weekend or vacation if there was work to be done. He spent sixty years as a dedicated farmer and rancher, building a life rooted in hard work and perseverance.

A lifelong outdoorsman, hunter, and hounds man, Chris was most comfortable in the woods and all the things that came with that. A master woodsman, he preferred to be as far away from modern civilization and conveniences as possible. He enjoyed scouting, camping, cooking, camp comradery and the occasional quenching his thirst at the end of long days. He also took great pride in his garden, where he grew prized produce that he generously shared with family and friends.

Chris will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.

He is survived by his wife, Carol Sue Karr Boagni; his children, Christopher Boagni Jr. (Lisa), Scott Boagni (Kristy), Holly Boagni Cange, and Brett Boagni (Sheri); his grandchildren, Luke Boagni (Abbi), Jake Cange (Caroline), Karley Boagni (Nick), Grace Cange, Taylor Lyster (Stuart), Olivia Boagni, and Lonnie Williamson; and his great-grandchildren, Abel “Wooskey” Darbonne, Claire Cange, and Christopher Cange; his niece Leslie Boagni Moore.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Vincent and Gladys Mae Pitre Boagni; his brother, Vincent “Buddy” Boagni; his sister, Gladys Mae Boagni Waterbury; and his son-in-law, Kevin Cange.

Chris leaves behind a legacy of values that will endure:

· The importance of a handshake and a man’s word

· A life guided by conservative principles

· Self-taught wisdom

· A sharp wit and sense of humor

· The insistence on keeping a sharp knife in his pocket

· And a true mastery of the BBQ pit

Christopher Dietlein Boagni—one of the last of the old guard—has moved on. Indeed, a legend.
