Celeste Ann Sanders Castille, 74, died on October 18, 2024, at home, surrounded by her family, after a long battle with breast cancer. She was born August 7, 1950, in Douglas, Wyoming.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Chuck and O’Reta Sanders, and survived by her husband, Thomas Castille, her children, Sarah and Luke Castille, her grandchild, Ophelia Castille-Webb, her brother, Mike Sanders, her sister, Jane Sanders, and a host of other relatives and friends.
Celeste graduated from Lafayette High School in 1968 and obtained a Bachelor of Arts in Sociology from University of Southwestern Louisiana, where she was also a member of ΑΟΠ sorority. In 1973, she met her husband, Thomas, in a rare Lafayette snowstorm that changed both of their lives. She began employment as a secretary at Exxon in New Orleans. After the birth of her children, she dedicated herself to being a homemaker, volunteering frequently at her children’s schools and extra-curricular activities.
Following her first cancer diagnosis, she was an active participant at Miles Perret. She loved road trips, hiking in the mountains of Colorado, reading mystery novels, watching Louisiana football, and spending time with her husband and children.
At the request of Celeste, there will be no public memorial. In lieu of flowers, please send donations in her memory to Miles Perret Cancer Services.
