Port Barre- A Funeral Service will be held for Mr. Carl E. Doucet at 1:00 p.m. on Monday, August 19, 2019, at the Sibille Funeral Home Chapel in Port Barre. Fr. Clint Trahan will conduct the funeral service. Burial will follow in the Sacred Heart Cemetery in Port Barre.
Mr. Doucet, age 69, a resident of Port Barre, passed away peacefully on Thursday, August 15, 2019 at his residence surrounded by his loving family.
Mr. Doucet served his country proudly in the United States Army Special Forces (Green Beret) as an Air Trooper during the Vietnam War. He was a member of Company D 20th Special Forces Group for the Louisiana National Guard. In his younger years he enjoyed being a part of the rodeo as a bronco rider. Mr. Doucet enjoyed creating new things through his welding career. He will be remembered as an avid storyteller and an amazing cook. Mr. Doucet will be greatly missed by his family, friends and all who knew and loved him.
He is survived by his wife of 22 years, Verna Hardy Doucet; sons, Stoney Doucet and Slade Doucet (Claire); daughter, Nikki Doucet; sister, Maxine Guidroz (Robert); and 3 grandchildren, Caleb, Carli and Sterling.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Wallace and Cecile Judice Doucet; and his in-laws, George and Juanita Hardy.
Visitation will be held on Sunday, August 18, 2019 from 3:00 p.m. until 10:00 p.m. in the Sibille Funeral Home in Port Barre. A rosary service will be prayed by Mrs. Johnny "BooBoo" Soileau at 6:00 p.m. Visitation will continue Monday from 8:00 a.m. until 12:30 p.m.
