Opelousas- A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated for Byron Keith Stout, age 73, on Saturday, February 8, 2025, at 11 a.m. in Our Lady Queen of Angels Catholic Church in Opelousas. Reverend Msgr. Keith J. DeRouen will celebrate the mass. The Rite of Committal and interment will follow at Bellevue Memorial Park in Opelousas.
Keith, a longtime resident of Opelousas, passed away on Wednesday, January 29, 2025, at the Carpenter House in Lafayette. He will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.
Before his retirement, Keith worked for over 44 years in the oilfield, primarily in the Gulf of Mexico. In the later years of his career, he spent significant time in Malaysia and Mexico supervising marine operations on oil rigs.
Those left to cherish his memory include his wife of 53 years, Georgia "LuLu" Boudreaux Stout of Opelousas; his three children, Nicholas (Katharine Evans) Stout of St. Augustine, Florida, Andrew (Malorie) Stout of Lafayette, Jacob Stout of New Orleans; one grandson, William Adler Stout of Lafayette; four siblings, Glenn (Mona) Stout of Carencro, Karen (Douglas) Richard of Palmetto, Jeff (Sharon) Stout of Sugar Land, Texas, and Chris (Ken) Stout of Murphy, Texas.
Keith was preceded in death by his parents Harold Stout and Grace Deville Stout; his paternal grandparents Valrie and Julia Stout; and his maternal grandparents Olida and Marie Deville.
The family will receive visitors at Sibille Funeral Home of Opelousas on Friday, February 7, 2025, from 3 p.m. to 8 p.m. The Holy Rosary will be prayed by Deacon Jerome Collins at 6 p.m. On Saturday morning, the funeral home will reopen for visitation at 8 a.m. until time of service.
The family would like to extend their heartfelt thanks to the staffs of Baton Rouge General and Opelousas General hospitals and the Carpenter House of Lafayette for the compassionate care provided to Keith during his time of need. The family would also like to extend special thanks to Lawrence and Stacy Moncla.
