Port Barre

Port Barre- A Mass of Christian Burial will be held for Bryant Jules Stelly on Monday, December 2, 2024, at 2:00 p.m. in the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Port Barre. Fr. Clint Trahan will celebrate the mass. Rite of Committal will follow in Cedar Hill Cemetery in Washington, La.

Bryant Jules Stelly, born on September 2, 1959, in Opelousas, Louisiana, passed away peacefully on November 29, 2024, in Lafayette, Louisiana. A beloved figure in his community, Bryant lived a life marked by service, dedication, and family connection.

For 39 years, Bryant was a committed of the Knights of Columbus, proudly serving in 4th Degree for the last 11 years as he held the treasure position in his service, his commitment to this reflected his deep-root faith and values. Additionally, he was honored to serve as a Lifetime Volunteer Firefighter for the Port Barre Fire Department, where he generously devoted his time and energy to ensuring the safety and well-being of others.

Bryant was known for his love of fishing, which provided him with moments of joy. He cherished these moments on the water, often accompanied by family members, sharing laughter and creating lasting memories. Telling stories with his loved ones was one of his greatest joys, as he connected with them through a tapestry of shared experiences and cherished moments.

Bryant is survived by his father, Antoine Stelly (A.D.); step-daughters, Katrina Brown and her companion Michael Savoy of Port Barre and Kiara Marquise (Donald) of Santa Fe, TX; brothers, Michael Stelly (Geneva) of Arnaudville, Dwain Stelly (Michele) of New Iberia, and Carl Stelly (Cheryl) of Carencro; sisters, Janet Stelly of Carencro and Karen Kelly (Henry) of Port Barre; Godchild, Matthew Stelly of New Iberia; 6 step grandchildren, Jessica Nezat (Randy), Elizabeth Schmal (Chris), Taylor Brown, Sergio McGregor (Emily), Derik Brown (Lindsey); special granddaughter by heart, Crystal Valla (Seth); and 5 step great-grandchildren, Alyssa “Nay” Simeral, Karli Nezat, Gunnar Nezat, Victoria Brown and Zoey Valla; sister in-law, Dorothy (Ozzie) Guillot of League City, TX and brother in law, James (Lori) Batchelor of Santa Fe, TX; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Bryant is preceded in death by his mother, Mercedes Angelle Stelly; his first wife, Lynn Stelly and second wife, Neva Daigle Stelly.

Pallbearers will be Dwain Stelly, Carl Stelly, Matthew Stelly, Jacob Stelly, Derik Brown, and Gavin Stelly. Honorary Pallbearers will be Michael Stelly and Joseph Kelly.

A visitation will be held on Monday, December 2, 2024, from 9:00 a.m. till 1:45 p.m. in the Sibille Funeral Home Chapel of Port Barre. A Rosary will be prayed at 1:15 p.m. in the Sibille Funeral Home Chapel. 

His legacy of kindness, service, and the love for his family will be remembered by all who knew him. Bryant's spirit lives on in the hearts of those he touched throughout his remarkable life. He will be deeply missed but fondly remembered for his unwavering dedication to his family and community.
