Port Barre- A Mass of Christian Burial will be held for Bobby “Bobby Ray” Gaudet on Friday, July 23, 2021 at 2:00 p.m. in the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Port Barre. Visitation will be held in the church from 12:30 p.m. until the time of service. Fr. Clint Trahan will celebrate the Mass. Inurnment will follow in the Sacred Heart Church cemetery.
Bobby Ray, age 84, a resident of Port Barre, entered into eternal rest on Tuesday, July 20, 2021 at Opelousas General Health System.
Bobby Ray’s famous quote to live by was “You’ll never get out of this world alive.” He loved watching and cheering on the LSU Tigers baseball team. Bobby Ray was an avid deer hunter, and his pride and joy was watching his grandchildren share in his passion during hunting season. He enjoyed going to the camp and making memories there with his son, Robert. Bobby Ray will also be remembered for his love of cooking and canning. He will be greatly missed by his family, friends and all who loved him.
He is survived his son, Robert Gaudet; “adopted son”, Beaux Johnson (fiancé, Amber Gautreaux); daughters, Belinda Jennings (Donny), Becky Sonnier (“Chubby”) and Bobbie Jo Leblanc (Jason); “adopted daughters”, Amanda Johnson and Gaby Bellow; sisters, Gayle Stanford and Alice Gaudet; grandchildren, Brenton Sonnier, Armecia Hadley, Jake Gaudet, Alec Gaudet, Sydnie Gaudet, Gracie Gaudet, Gage Gaudet, Josie Leblanc Leger and Christopher Leblanc; a host of great-grandchildren; and his aunt and bestfriend, Betty Fontenot Stelly.
He is preceded in death by his wife of 62 years, Syble Faye Rourks Gaudet; parents, Mayonce Gaudet and Loyce Gaudet Harmon; step-father, Herbert “Fats” Harmon; and half-sister, Fannie Lee Bryson.
