Obituary

Opelousas-A Mass of Christian Burial will be held for Arlene Marie Duplechien Richard at 10:30 am at St. Bridget Catholic Church in Lawtell. Fr. Mark Ledoux will officiate the Mass. Burial will follow in the St. Bridget Cemetery.

Visitation will be held on Friday, September 18, 2026 from 5:00 pm till 10:00 pm with a Rosary to be recited at 6:30 pm in the Sibille Funeral Home. Visitation will resume on Saturday at 8:00 am until time of service.

Arlene, born on August 29, 1957, in Prairie Ronde, Louisiana, passed away at her home on September 10, 2026.

Arlene will be remembered with respect and affection by those who knew her. Her life began in Prairie Ronde, and she carried that connection with her throughout the years. Her passing at home marks the close of a life that will be held in memory by family and friends.

May her memory bring comfort to all who mourn her passing.

Arlene is survived by her sons, Kevin Dupre and his wife Meagan of Grandview, Texas, and Kristopher Dupre of Arkansas,  grandchildren, Samuel Dupre, Ansleigh Dupre, Sophie Dupre, Claire Dupre, Daphne Dupre, and Olivia Dupre.

Arlene is preceded in death by her parents, Leon Duplechien and Eurella Fontenot, her siblings, Beverly Carriere, Rita Hargroder, Dale Joubert, Troy Duplechien, and Michael Duplechien. 

Pallbearers will be Kevin Dupre, Kristopher Dupre, Bryan Joubert, Ryan Duplechien, Seth Hargroder, Jacob Deville. Honorary pallbearers will be Samuel Dupre and Korey Duplechien.
