Opelousas- A Funeral Service will be held for Alice Hicks on Friday, August 8, 2025 at 2:00 p.m. in Sibille Funeral Home Chapel of Opelousas. Pastor Perry Hubbs and Pastor Greg Gaspard will conduct the service. Burial will follow in the Palmetto Methodist Cemetery.

Alice Guidry Hicks, a cherished matriarch, was born on January 21, 1928, in Port Barre, Louisiana. She graced this world with her vibrant spirit for nearly a century, leaving an indelible mark on the lives of all who knew her. Alice peacefully departed from this life on August 5, 2025, in the comfort of her own home, surrounded by her loving family.

Alice's life was a tapestry woven with love for her family. She relished every moment spent with them, often sharing stories that connected generations. Alice demonstrated an extraordinary passion for cooking and her kitchen was a sanctuary where love and laughter blended into every dish she prepared.

A devoted parishioner, Alice looked forward to Sundays, when she could gather with her church family at First Baptist Church and Unity Baptist in Opelousas. Her commitment to her faith was palpable, and she lived her life embodying the values she cherished, always extending kindness and compassion to those around her.

Survivors include her son, Nelson G. Hicks and wife Rose of Opelousas; daughter, Barbara Hicks of Opelousas; sister, Laura Smith; daughters-in-law, Debra Hicks and Freida Simon; sister-in-law, Margie Rabalais; 9 grandchildren, Thomas Hicks III, Reggie D. Pitre, Kurt Williamson, Willson “Will” Hicks, Gabe Hicks, Summer Hicks, Heather Hicks, Sammy Hicks and Johnny Guidry; 10 great-grandchildren, Jonathon Guidry, Jacob Guidry, Julia Thompson, Lorryn Pitre, Maggie Williamson, Emmalee Williamson, Karter Williamson, Taylor Williamson, Carter Hicks and Paxton Hicks; and great-great-grandchild, Jessie Prudhomme.

Alice is preceded in death by her husband, Thomas Hicks, Sr.; sons, Thomas Hicks, Jr., Charles Hicks and Larry Hicks; granddaughter, Charisse Guidry; parents, Clem Guidry and Leola Perrio Guidry; brothers, Howard Guidry and Louis Guidry; sisters, Ledie Marks, Lydia Riche and Emma Lee Gauthier; brothers-in-law, Johnny Hicks, Oliver Rabalais Lester Riche, Arthur Hicks, Louis Marks, Louis Gauthier and Wilfred Smith; sister-in-law, Thelma Hicks and Bessie Condon.

Visitation will be held on Thursday, August 7, 2025 from 5:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. in the Sibille Funeral Home of Opelousas. Visitation will resume on Friday, August 8, 2025 from 8:00 a.m. until the time of service at 2:00 p.m.

Pallbearers will be Tommie Hicks, Kurt Williamson, Will Hicks, Nelson Hicks, Carter Hicks, Karter Williamson and Jonathon Guidry. Honorary pallbearers will be Paxton Hicks, Taylor Williamson and Sammy Hicks.

Her profound impact on her family and friends will be deeply felt in the days ahead. The love and lessons Alice imparted will forever remain etched in the hearts of those she leaves behind.
