PORT BARRE- A Mass of Christian Burial will be held For Albert Charles Higginbotham on Monday, June 16, 2025 at 2:00 p.m. in the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Port Barre. Fr. Clint Trahan will celebrate the Mass. Rite of Committal will follow in the Sacred Heart Cemetery.
Albert Charles Higginbotham, a beloved figure in his community and a dedicated family man, passed away peacefully at his home on June 12, 2025, at the age of 85. Born on October 5, 1939, in Washington, Louisiana, Albert led a life marked by hard work, skill, and passion.
Throughout his career, Albert devoted himself to the oilfield industry. His journey began as a driller, where he showcased an incredible work ethic and commitment to excellence. He advanced his career as a tool pusher and eventually became a gauger, roles in which he contributed significantly to the industry's operation while providing for his family.
Beyond his professional achievements, Albert was a craftsman at heart. He loved woodworking and often spent his free time creating beautiful cabinetry. Cooking was also one of his passions—he found great pleasure in preparing meals for his family, creating memorable gatherings filled with laughter and love.
Albert is survived by his wife of 59 years, Daisy Broussard Higginbotham; sons, Brian Higginbotham and Corey Higginbotham; brothers, Dean (Gloria) Higginbotham and Chris (JoAnn) Higginbotham; 10 grandchildren, Tiffany Higginbotham Soileau (Jude), Brian Higginbotham, Jr., Shelby Higginbotham, Skyla Higginbotham Guidry (Brandon), Bryce Higginbotham, Taylor Higginbotham, Cody “C.J” Higginbotham II, Andrew Higginbotham; 10 great-grandchildren, Kohl Higginbotham, Graycee Guilbeau, Eli Soileau, Emeri Rose Soileau, Jolee Guilbeau, Holland Higginbotham, Alex Guidry, Grayson Guidry, Wyatt Lloyd and Cody James Higginbotham III whom Albert loved so much, he was his rock.
Albert is preceded in death by his parents, Jack and Marie Doucet; son, Cody James Higginbotham; grandson, Jacob Higginbotham; brothers John Allan, Rapheal and Oneal Higginbotham; sisters, Helen Schexnayder and Martha Knott; in-laws, Clarence and Ethel Cormier Broussard.
Visitation will be held on Sunday, June 15, 2025 from 9:00 a.m. until 9:30 p.m. in the Sibille Funeral Home in Port Barre. The rosary will be recited at 7:00 p.m. on Sunday evening. Visitation will resume on Monday from 8:00 a.m. until 1:30 p.m. in the funeral home.
Pallbearers will be Brian Higginbotham, Corey Higginbotham, C.J. Higginbotham, Caleb Higginbotham, Adam Higginbotham and Brian Higginbotham, Jr. Honorary pallbearers will be Brad Higginbotham, Kerry Higginbotham, Bryce Higginbotham, Glen Higginbotham, Dustin Higginbotham.
As we remember Albert Charles Higginbotham, we celebrate a remarkable man whose commitment to his family and profession, alongside his impressive talents, will forever inspire those whose lives he touched.
