Opelousas-- Most people have never witnessed one single miracle in their lifetime. Few have been fortunate enough to see even one but if you were in Addie’s world, you were blessed to witness thousands of miracles.
Nine-year-old Adalynn Rose Guidroz traded her wheels in for a set of wings on October 27, 2026, at Our Lady of Lourdes Women’s and Children’s Hospital in Lafayette. You see, Addie didn’t just have her family tree of people that surrounded her while she fastened her wings in place, she had a family forest. Addie was dressed for the Miracle worker part in her glittered monogrammed “Addie Baddie” cape, only fitting for the Royalty she was. Her runway was lined with a forest full of people as she was wheeled toward the operating room wrapped in her mama’s arms for all to witness another miracle as she became an organ donor. Then, she was joined by a host of angels as she landed and ran into the arms of Jesus. She ran…we all know it.
Addie did not just live what the Bible teaches us in Mark 12:31, when Jesus instructed us to “Love our neighbor as ourselves,” She loved everyone MORE than she loved herself.
By definition, a miracle is “an extraordinary, astonishing event attributed to divine power.” We pleaded to God for a miracle in Addie’s life however, our miracle request was centered on the physical healing of her body. Our prayers were answered not in the miracle of Addie’s physical healing but through her gift of healing others. She was always destined for something bigger than us! She was the miracle of birth from conception. She was the miracle of survival of Spina Bifida. She was the miracle of joy…. Just look at one picture of her contagious smile and not smile back at it….I dare you! She was the miracle of faith. Miss Mass on Sunday and see if she didn’t inquire where you were or why you were not there. She was the miracle of goodness in the world. Many times in life, children who are different get picked on for their differences….not Addie. She didn’t just allow you to hear about the goodness of God, she made you visualize it. Ask all the children and staff at Palmetto Elementary who line up in the afternoons to be graced by her presence and await her wave as the school bus chariot takes her home. To quote Mrs. Nicki, the Assistant Principal of Palmetto Elementary, “What an impact this child has made! We are merely lowly peasants in Addie’s kingdom.” She was the miracle of organ donation. How could she not be wheeled toward the Operating Room in a glittery monogrammed cape designed for the Hero we all knew she was.
Those left here to endure her loss are her parents, Jason and Brooke Gerace Guidroz, her sister Rylee Guidroz & her brother Easton Guidroz, who were her best friends, her grandparents Randy Gerace, Brenda Chelette & Johnny & Linda Lejeune. Uncles include Hunter Gerace, Kyle Belleau, Markus Guidroz, Earl Bajoie, Ryan Delatte & Justin Bonaventure. Aunts include Halie Belleau, Paige Bajoie, Jennifer Bailey, Aubrey Gerace, Jori Bonaventure & Gaylen Delatte. She also leaves behind a host of cousins who were a cheer squad for all of Addie’s victories.
Meeting her in Heaven with her rocking chair is her Mawmaw Robbie Gerace, Mark Guidroz, her grandfather, her infant cousin John “Kelson” Bonaventure, & her great-grandparents Frank and Peggy Gerace, Roy and Wilma Chelette, Raymond and Geraldine Guidroz and Erns & Vera Snyder.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 1:00 pm on Sunday, November 1, 2026, at St. Thomas Catholic Church in Palmetto, Louisiana. Serving as Celebrant of the Mass and conducting funeral services will be Father Stephen Ugwil. Visitation will be on Saturday, October 31, 2026, from 4:00 pm until 10:00 pm at Sibille’s Funeral Home in Opelousas with the Rosary prayed at 7:00 pm. Services will resume on November 1, 2026, from 8:00 am until the time of service followed by Rite of Committal at St. Thomas Cementary.
Readers of the Scripture will be Nichole Voss, Jori Bonaventure and Sandra Smith. Addie’s Eulogy will be read by her Godmother, Rhonda Bergeron.
Addie will be dressed for the occasion in her favorite Bluey nightgown as some of her favorite people carry her to her resting place. Randy Gerace, Hunter Gerace, Kyle Belleau, Ethan Belleau, Parker Bergeron, Justin Bonaventure, Johnny Lejeune and Markus Guidroz will have that honor as pallbearers. Easton Guidroz will be the Honorable Pallbearer.
Gift Bearers will be Hannah Aymond, Paige Bajoie, Aubrey Gerace and Emily Guidry. Music will be provided by Kenneth Wyotte.
Many will remember November 1 as the day Addie was laid to rest, however, today I assure you, Addie is resting. She is running in the streets of Heaven on All Saints Day holding Jesus’ hand while asking him, “Jesus, you ok?”
“I am a little pencil in the hand of a writing God who is sending a love letter to the world.” Mother Teresa
We all know the words Addie left on each of our love letters…. You ok? Because I’m ok.
Truly there are so many people to thank throughout Addie’s journey that we are fearful of missing someone. She was so extraordinary that she received care in Louisiana, Arkansas and Oklahoma. The staff who cared for Addie at Women’s & Children’s was only by divine placement and thank you to Rhea, Grace, Lauren, Taylor, our Tinkerbell Kayla and Dr. Salman will never be enough.
Words of comfort to the family may be expressed at www.sibillefuneralhomes.com. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Sibille Funeral Home of Opelousas.
