OPELOUSAS- A Funeral Service will be held for Mr. Paul C. Darbonne at 3:00 p.m. on Saturday, October 12, 2019, in the Sibille Funeral Home Chapel in Opelousas; visitation will be held from 9:30 a.m. until 5:00 p.m. on Saturday. Rev. Benny Reppond will conduct the service.
Mr. Darbonne, age 83, a resident of Opelousas, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, October 9, 2019 at Senior Village Nursing Home.
Mr. Darbonne served his country proudly as Military Policeman in the United States Air Force. During the late 80’s early 90’s he was well known for his paper delivery route of the Daily World Newspaper in the Leonville area. He was a talented oilfield salesman for Cameron Iron Works for many years. In his spare time, he enjoyed crafting pieces through his woodworking. Mr. Darbonne will be greatly missed by his family, friends and all who knew and loved him.
He is survived by his two sons, Craig Dion Darbonne of Mansfield and James Paul Darbonne and wife, Nicole of Leonville; daughter, Paula Denise Lavergne and husband, Leroy Lavergne, Jr. of Port Barre; six grandchildren, Krystal Darbonne Bamburg, Amber Darbonne, Konnor Darbonne, Sage Darbonne, Leroy “Tre” Lavergne and Kiana Lavergne; and five great-grandchildren, Lyvia, Jaxon, Kolbe, Kristian and Kyer.
He is preceded in death by his wife, Judith Hagood Darbonne; parents, Wilfred and Elenore Richard Darbonne; five brothers, Lt. Col. Eugene Darbonne, Noah “Clem” Darbonne, Herman Darbonne, Hillard Carriere and “Nook” Carriere; sister, Willie Mae Cole; and grandson, Tanner Darbonne.
