Betty, age 96, passed away on August 14, 2018, at Opelousas General Health System.

Betty had a wonderful life and always enjoyed life to the fullest. She loved to travel, particularly cruising, and was scheduled to cruise during Mardi Gras next year.

She was recently told that she was to be inducted this year into the St. Landry Parish Women Hall of Fame. She had written a few words in anticipation of this honor that described her feelings. “I have been very fortunate in my life—first being adopted by loving parents—my marriage to George Litton for over 50 years—my loving daughter Susan—and my good health. I have had good lasting friends. I thank God every day for my health, my supportive friends and living for 96 years. How he has blessed me every day of my life.”

Betty was very involved in her church family. She served on the Vestry, as a Sunday School Teacher and was also involved on the Diocesan level as Acadiana Convocation Chairman for several years. She coordinated the church’s card parties as well as the chicken salad sandwich sale.

She enjoyed playing bridge and mahjong and just being with friends. She was a hospital volunteer for over 28 years at Doctors Hospital and Opelousas General Hospital, primarily volunteering in outpatient surgery and the surgery waiting room.

She was a member of the Garden Club, the Women’s Service League and many other organizations.

She was a graduate of Louisiana State University in Baton Rouge and was a “Purple Jacket” and a member of Delta Zeta sorority. She graduated from LSU in January of 1943 with a degree in social work.

She is survived by her daughter, Susan Litton.

She was preceded in death by her husband, George Litton; and her parents, Dr. and Mrs. J.B. Guillory

Pallbearers will be David Romagosa, John Romagosa, Felix Pavy, Edmond Pavy, Robert Guillory and Scooter Hiller.

The family would like to offer a special thanks to Dr. Lori Gautreaux and her staff, as well as the Emergency Room Department at Opelousas General. Also, a special thanks to her loving caregivers Rose Chenier, Velma Coleman, Sandra Jolivette and Clarnette Chenier.

In lieu of flowers the family requests donations be made in her memory to the Episcopal Church of the Epiphany Memorial Fund or the Opelousas Cerebral Palsy Clinic.

Words of Comfort to the family may be expressed at www.sibillefuneralhomes.com. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Sibille Funeral Home of Opelousas.

Susan, I found out just this morning that your mother had gone to meet your Dad. They were both such fine people and I had the pleasure of knowing them. I loved traveling with all of you. Rest in comfort that you are in my prayers.

I am so very sorry for your loss. The hope that the Bible gives for ones that we have lost can be a true comfort. God's Son, Jesus Christ, likened death to a deep sleep. All those who have fallen asleep in death will be woken up in a beautiful resurrection. You will be able to hold your precious Mr Anthony and you will never have to fear letting him go again. This is a promise from God!  (John 5:28, 29; 11:11,14; Job 33:25) Jw.org

    Dear Susan,
My thoughts and prayers are with you. I was sad to hear of your Mom's death. I guess you know how privileged we were to have our parents with us for so long a time. You were certainly blessed with "Mr." George and "Miss" Betty.
Now you have two angels watching over you from above.
    Sincerely,
    Carolyne
