Floyd Paul Stelly

Opelousas — A Memorial Mass for Mr. Floyd Paul Stelly, age 58, will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, March 6, 2010, with a Mass of Christian Burial in Our Lady of Mercy Catholic Church in Opelousas. Fr. Paul Bienvenu will celebrate the Mass.
Floyd was a native and longtime resident of Opelousas. He died on Thursday, March 4, 2010, at his residence surrounded by his family.
He was a surveyor for many years. As a young man and adult, he was a member of Our Lady of Mercy Catholic Church in Opelousas and recently was a member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Washington. As a pastime, Floyd enjoyed fishing. He will be sadly missed by all who knew and loved him.
Survivors include his wife of 37 years, Karen Tate Stelly; two daughters: Caryn Stelly and Danyelle Stelly, all of Opelousas; daughter-in-law, Jennifer Rush Stelly of Vidalia; two grandchildren: Nicholas Troi Stelly and Julia Layne Stelly, both of Vidalia; four brothers: Joseph Stelly, Jr. of Castro Valley, CA; Gerald Richard of Krotz Springs; Kenneth Richard of Scott; and Glenn Richard of Pascagoula, MS; four sisters: Dorothy Stelly Burleigh of Krotz Springs; Mary Stelly Jarreau of Lakeland; Geraldine Richard Stelly of Carencro; and Vickie Richard Thomas of Opelousas; and a host of nieces, nephews, and friends.
Floyd was preceded in death by his son, Paul Wesley Stelly; his parents: Joseph Stelly, Sr. and Yola Prejean Richard; one sister, Barbara Stelly Laird; his father-in-law, Clarence Tate; and mother-in-law, Ruby Trahan Tate.
