Ackel Adam Savoie, Sr.

Grand Coteau- Funeral services for Mr. Ackel Adam Savoie, Sr., age 71, will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, January 25, 2010, with a Mass of Christian Burial in St. Charles Catholic Church in Grand Coteau, LA. Interment will follow in the St. Charles Cemetery.
Ackel was a native of Sunset, Louisiana. He was born on October 20, 1938. He left this world peacefully to join our Lord on Friday, January 22, 2010.
He was a wonderful and loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, and loyal friend. He enjoyed spending time with his family and friends, golfing, boxing, fishing, foreign affairs and his many travels. His work brought him to many countries throughout the world to include: Venezuela, Columbia, Ecuador, Trinidad, Egypt, Algeria, and most recently Syria, where he has worked for the last twenty years.
Survivors include his wife of 50 years, Jackie Savoie of Sunset; two daughters: Monique and her husband, Scot Moore of Grapevine, Texas; Josette and her husband, Dwayne Babineaux of Keller, Texas; one son, Ackel Adam Savoie, Jr. (“Tiger”) and wife, Ellen of Keller, Texas; ten grandchildren: Erin, Emily, Ana-Alyce, and Alex Moore; Nicholas and Jacob Babineaux; Jacqueline, Marguerite, Adam Phillip, and Sam Ackel Savoie; one great-grandchild, Mayleigh Elise Bennett; two brothers: Norwood and Tommy Savoie; and two sisters: Artherine Harrell and Relita Breland.
He was preceded in death by his parents: Adam Savoie and Bernadette Prejean Savoie; sister, Katrina Lecompte; mother and father-in-law: Odon Bourque and Anna Lee Bourque; and an infant son.
Pallbearers will be Mike, Donald, Blaine, and Tony Boudreaux; Dale and Gary Miller.
Visiting hours will be observed in the Sibille Funeral Home of Grand Coteau on Sunday, January 24, 2010, from 4 p.m. until 9 p.m. On Monday, visitation will continue in the funeral home from 8:00 a.m. until 10:30 a.m.
A Rosary service will be held at 7:00 p.m. on Sunday evening in the funeral home.
