JOSEPH LEE "BUD" HOOKS
Port Barre- Funeral Services for Joseph Lee Hooks, known to many as “BUD”, age 72, will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Thursday, January 21, 2010, in the Sibille Funeral Home Chapel in Port Barre. Pastor Chad Bolfa will officiate the services. Bud was a longtime residence of Port Barre. He died on Monday, January 18, 2010, at Opelousas General Health System. “Uncle Bud” a lifelong resident of Bayou Courtableau was a retired Master Carpenter Local Union #1098. A Veteran of the USAF a original founding member of Brushy Bayou Hunting Club serving on its board for several years. He loved being outdoors going to the camp spending time with his hunting buddies building pirogues and making a garden. He loved to dance and make people laugh, spending time with his children and grandchildren and five dogs. He will be sadly missed for all who were lucky to know and loved him. Survivors include his loving and dedicated wife of 36 years, Faye Hooks; four daughters: Hope Stelly and companion, Chad; Kaye Richard and companion, Burt; Holly Hooks; Terri Andrus and husband, Micky; one son, Toby Hooks and companion, D’ Anna all of Krotz Springs and Port Barre; three sisters: Jane Stelly of Port Barre; Nell Walcott and husband, Al of Houston TX; and Bessie Boudier of Opelousas; three brothers: Ed Stelly and wife, Mary of Krotz Springs; Floyd Hooks and wife, Maria of Port Barre; Bill Hooks of Navasota, TX; twelve grandchildren and three great- grandchildren: Cohen, Kaleb and Maddox. He was preceded in death by his parents: Sammy Hooks and Lelia Ardoin Stelly; beloved aunt, Ida Hooks; and brother, JD Hooks. Pallbearers will be Tyler Disotell, Jonathan Stelly, Leo Richard III, Todd Stelly, Don Stelly, Josh Roberson, Honorary pallbearers will be Cory Disotell, and Koby Disotell. Visiting hours will be observed in the Sibille Funeral Home of Port Barre on Wednesday, January 20, 2010, from 10:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m. and will reopen on Thursday morning at 8:00 a.m. until time of service.
