Opelousas- A Memorial Mass will be celebrated on November 3, 2018 at 10:00 a.m. at St. Landry Catholic Church to honor the life of, Patrick Murray Labbe; who died on Monday, October 8, 2018 at his residence. As a final unselfish act of kindness, Murray's wish was to donate his body to the LSU School of Medicine in order to further medical research to benefit others.

Survivors include his wife of fifty-seven years, Kathleen Charles Labbe; his four sons, Ted Labbe (Melinda) of Opelousas, LA, Barry Labbe (Joan) of League City, TX, Bryan Labbe (Gina) of Opelousas, LA, and Kevin Labbe (Lori) of Sunset, LA; fourteen grandchildren, Amanda Labbe Menard, Caitlyn Labbe, Cody Labbe, Drew Labbe, Sarah Labbe, Kyle Labbe, Emily Labbe Pitre, Jacob Labbe, David Labbe, Evan Labbe, Shelby Labbe, Cassie Labbe, and Christian Labbe; four great-grandchildren, Addy Lachney, John and Thomas Pitre, and Beckham Robin; two sisters, Jenunita L. Richard and Nell L. Boudreaux, and a host of nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by one grandson, Seth Patrick Labbe; his parents, Carlton and Mary Labbe; one sister, Anna Lois L. Cary, and brothers-in-law, Paul J. B. Richard and John Broussard.

Murray was born on May 18, 1938 in Lewisburg, Louisiana. He was a graduate of Opelousas High School. Murray was a loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, and friend to all who knew him. The majority of his career was spent working at Cary Iron Works where he often traveled to foreign countries as part of his job. He later worked as a truck driver for DSI and Trimax where he received many awards not only for his impeccable driving record but also his professionalism on the job.

He was a humble and generous man who dearly loved his family and always looked forward to Saturday nights when he and his wife cooked for the children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and many times a host of other relatives and friends as well. Murray was a gentle and kind man who never met a stranger; a true friend to all he crossed paths with. He was always willing to help anyone in need of his help and talents. He will certainly be dearly missed by all who knew and loved him.

If anyone wishes to send a memorial gift, a donation in his name can be made to St. Jude's Children's Hospital. Murray and Kathleen were always avid and generous supporters of St. Jude's.
