Opelousas —A Mass of Christian Burial for Richard Bordelon will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday, May 8, 2018, Pastor of St. Landry Catholic Church, Father John Brady will conduct the Mass. Interment will be at Bellevue Memorial Park Cemetery.
Richard was born in 1939 to J.Y. and Nita Daly Bordelon. He graduate from the Academy of the Immaculate Concption in 1959 and Tulane Univeristy in 1960 receiving a degree in Mechanical Engineering. Upon graduation, he received a commission as an ensign in the US Navel Reserve and served at Subic Bay in the Philippined for two years. He returned to civilian life in Opelousas entering the family business and married Frances Duhon Bordelon in1964. In 1988 he purchased controlling interest in Bordelon Motors Co. and in 2012 retired and sold the dealership.
Richard was a kind and caring person who cherished time spent with family and friends. He enjoyed fishing and hunting and many good times were spent at his camp in Cypremort Point. With photography as a hobby, he developed beatiful pictures and nature, especially ones with birds and flowers.
Richard was as member of the Rotary Club for over 50 years. He was also a member and past President of GOEID which merged in SLEIDD. On October 19, 1973. The first National Bank of Opelousas opened, of which he was one of the original board of directores. In time this bank became Chase Bank in Opelousas.
Surivors include his wife Frances Bordelon and two children. A daughter, Julie Clayton and husband, Jeff, a son Richard Andre Bordelon. He had seven grandchildren, Shelby Boudreaux, Nicholas Clayton, Benjamin Clayton, Abagail Clayton, Alex Clayton, Ava Clayton, Seth Bordelon and two great grandchildren, his sister Ann Veillon and brother Dr. J.Y. Bordeon, Jr.
He was precede in death by his parents J.Y. Bordelon, Sr. and Nita Daly Bordelon.
Pallbearers will be Seth Bordelon, Ben Clayton, Tony Gaudet, Andy Lafleur, Nelson Daly and Ted Veillion.
Visiting hours will be held on Monday, May 7, 2017, from 3:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. and will reopen on Tuesday at 8:00 a.m. until time of service.
A Rosary service will be prayed at 6:00 p.m. in the Sibille Funeral Home Chapel on Monday evening.

Jessie and I were very sorry to hear of Richards recent passing. He will be sadly missed and we will keep him in our prayers along with you and your family.
